Alice Carleton Williams, 99, of Jackson, passed away June 5, 2018 at her home. She was born September 25, 1918 to Byard and Mazie Downey Carleton. A member of Jackson First United Methodist Church, she had been active in the Christian Fellowship Sunday School Class. She had been a teacher with the Clarke County Board of Education, beginning her career in a one-room schoolhouse in Campbell in 1939. From there, she taught two years in Satsuma and then returned to Clarke County, where she would eventually retire in 1980 and remained a member of the Retired Teacher's Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert Earl Williams, Jr.; daughter, Patricia Williams and siblings, Randolph W. Carleton, A.B. Carleton, Jr., Mary Driskell and Bertha Mae Holder.
She is survived by her daughter, Charlene (Wesley M. "Buddy") Noble; grandchildren, Dianna (David) Brown, Kay (Scott) Warzecha; Wesley Earl (Helen) Noble; great-grandchildren, Jacob (Elissa) Brown, Mac Warzecha, Wilson Warzecha, Hannah Noble, Will Noble; great-great grandchildren, Collin Joseph Finney, Cooper Noble Brown; two step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren and two step-great, great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Pine Crest Cemetery in Jackson with the Revs. Alan Gantzhorn and Jim DuFriend officiating and Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Brown, David Brown, Scott Warzecha, Mac Warzecha, Wilson Warzecha and Will Noble.
Sam Hughston will be an honorary pallbearer.
