Sarah Anne Simpkins Lewis, 82, of Jackson, passed away April 11, 2018 at an assisted living facility in Huntsville. She was born September 26, 1935 to John David Gerald Simpkins and Louise Henson Simpkins. A member of the Jackson First United Methodist Church, she was active in numerous church activities, including as a soloist in the choir and past president of the United Methodist Women. She also taught school for 25 years at both Gilmore Elementary School and Jackson Academy. She was both a coach's daughter and a coach's wife.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William H. "Billy" Lewis, and brother, David Simpkins.
She is survived by her children, Louanne Lewis (Calvin) James, John Lincoln (Paula) Lewis, William Ladd (Janet) Lewis and grandchildren, Amber James (Tyler) Johnson, William Paul James, John Daniel James, Hunter Lincoln Lewis, Harrison O'Neal Lewis, Vincent Johnston Bramble, Zachary Steven Bramble, Sarah Jean Lewis and William David Lewis.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson, with the Rev. Danny Chancey officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Pine Crest Cemetery in Jackson with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
