Lucia Anne Horne Stewart, 86, passed away October 30, 2022, in Jackson. She was born in Doerun, Georgia on February 16, 1936 to parents Charles Lucius and Annie Laurie Brooks Horne. Anne grew up in Georgia, graduated from Valdosta State University in education, she taught at Pensacola High School before moving to Jackson with her husband of 62 years to help operate their mobile home business, Mobile Home Mart. She was an avid drag racing enthusiast. Her and Sol owned the Sunset Dragway in Panama City from 1962 to 1964. Sol built the car that Anne raced (named The Teacher's Pet), she was the first woman to win the Alabama State Drag Racing Championship. They enjoyed this sport together all during the 1960s and 70s and were the hosts for the Old Drag Racers Club Reunion for twenty years.
Preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Sol Stewart, and her parents.
