Annie Ruth Dumas Ross, 88, of Chatom, died May 12, 2024. Annie was born January 22, 1936 to Charlie and Flora Grimes Dumas. She was a loving woman who was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her family will dearly miss her meatloaf, fudge, and homemade old-fashioned fruitcake. In her younger years, Annie was known for growing amazing tomatoes in 5-gallon buckets; more recently, she was known for her beloved roses and flowers. Annie also dearly cared for her beloved chickens and her dog, Foxy.
Annie is survived by her husband, Floyd Ross; children, Linda Dumas Tucker, Bobby Jordan (Milissa), Debbie Holifield (Roger), Barbara Lee (Warren), James "Bobo" Jordan, Charlotte Jordan and Karen Ross Wheeler; 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Gladys Dumas Carlisle, Louise Dumas Sercy and Johnnie Mae Dumas Gibson; three grandchildren and one son-in-law.
Services for Ms. Annie will be held at Lathan Funeral Home, Chatom. Visitations will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday, May 15, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service begins at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Ernie Henson, officiating. Interment will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Bigbee.
Active pallbearers will be Jason Holifield, Justin Holifield, Joshua Parden, Cody Parden, Cole Jordan, and Hunter Cone.
Honorary pallbearers will be Blake Holifield, Bradon Holifield, Korbyn Parden, and Jonathan Wheeler.
