Barbara Newton

Barbara Ann "Nana" Newton, 71, of Hobson, passed away Friday, March 11, 2022, at her residence. She was born in Mobile on Wednesday, July 5, 1950. She enjoyed giving golf cart rides to her grandchildren, crocheting blankets, watching hummingbirds and tending her flower beds. She worked her entire life and thoroughly enjoyed waitressing for all of her coffee drinkers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mohun Thompson and Thelma Thompson; son, T.C. Dearmon; grandson, Brandon Atchison and brother, Willie Thompson.
She is survived by her husband, Bobby Newton; children, Tracy (Byron) Atchison, Barbara (Ray) Carpenter, Kandace (Ricky) Elmore, Kristen (Eric) Kroodsma, Kayle Newton, Thomas Newton; grandchildren, Chelsey (Patrick) Williams, Kaden Williams, Addie Williams, Emery Williams, Aubey Atchison, Todd Carpenter, RaeAnn Carpenter, Jace Dearmon, Halle Dearmon, Kaitlyn Kroodsma, Joseph Brannan; siblings, Rudolph (Bertha) Thompson, Margaret Pritchett; sister-in-law, Dewann Thompson; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at the Hobson Community Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Kirkland officiating and Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Chet Anderson, Todd Carpenter, Ricky Elmore, Dalton Harrison, Eric Kroodsma and Thomas Newton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Debbie Pierson, Carl Wayne Thompson, Dean Thompson, Jerry Thompson and Nelson Thompson.
