Bennie Lenard Dolbear, 81, formerly of Chickasaw, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2020 in Theodore, Alabama. He was born August 2, 1939 to Ellis Drake Dolbear and Lillie McDonald Dolbear. A veteran of the US Air Force, he was tasked with maintaining the F-104 Starfighter. He was later employed as a commercial painter and was a proud member of the Painters and Allied Trades Union 779. His greatest joy was traveling the US with his wife and dogs, Buster Rufus Brown Dolbear, and then Leroy Jordan Dolbear.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Betty Dolbear; siblings, Gladys Mayher, Wilda Knapp, Mildred Weyerman, Rita Delveige, Theresa Stampley, and William Drake Dolbear.
He is survived by his sister, Betty Moore; nephew, Cecil Dolbear (Terri); beloved great nieces, Jenny Dolbear Powell (Stephen), Amy Melissa Dolbear, Sarah Sage Dolbear; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson. A graveside service for family only will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Dolbear Family Cemetery in Jackson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Freddie Coxwell, Cecil Dolbear, Ronnie Knapp, Albert “Cotton” Maher, Stephen Powell, and Delane Williams.
