Bennie Earl Pugh, 81, of Jackson, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at his residence. He was born in Grove Hill on Tuesday, March 12, 1940. A member of Peniel Baptist Church in Jackson, he had been self-employed as a cabinet maker. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed coon hunting, woodworking and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Grover Pugh, Lethel Brunson Pugh; siblings, Lavon Pugh, Warrene Baugh and brother-in-law, Elray Copeland.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Pugh; children, Tony (Tracey) Pugh, Troy (Rhonda) Pugh, Tina (Curry) Hammond, Todd Pugh; grandchildren, Jake (Shelby) Pugh, Carly (Hunter) Upton, Chloe Pugh, Hunter Pugh, Ryann Pugh, Blaiklee Pugh; great-grandchildren, Blair Upton, Owen Upton, Ada Pugh; sisters, Janis (Frank) Hamilton, Shirley Copeland, Wynema (Bobby) Sheffield, Leavern (Willie) Nichols and numerous other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 18, 2022, at Magnolia Lawn Cemetery in Grove Hill with the Rev. Fred Odom officiating and Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Ivan Hamilton, Vince Hamilton, David Headley, David Sheffield, Mike Sheffield and Leon Wade.
