Betty Jean 'Mamoo' Weaver Brandenburg, 78, of Jackson, passed away January 27, 2023, at Providence Hospital in Mobile, Alabama. She was born in Leakesville, Mississippi on October 20, 1944, to parents William Andrew and Ethel Rivers Weaver, both of whom preceded her in death. Betty enjoyed sewing, cooking, and making sure everyone she met or that came to visit felt welcome. She cherished her family and loved them dearly. She was a member of The First Baptist Church of Jackson, AL.
Preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Mr. Johnnie 'Da' Coleman Brandenburg.
She is survived by her children, Anita (Robert) Dixon of Semmes, Sheila (Karl) Wright of Jackson, Micheal (Samantha) Brandenburg of Birmingham; grandchildren, Chris (Melissa) Wright, Bobbie Dixon, Karla (Christopher) Clark, John Brandenburg, Brooke Brandenburg; great-grandchildren, Lexi Sims, Dakota Wright, Riley Kate Clark, and sister Francis 'Frankie' Weaver Rutland of Citronelle.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson with Dr. Brian Jemison and Dr. Scott Thomas officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Pinecrest Cemetery in Jackson with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Chris Wright, John Brandenburg, Dakota Wright, Christopher Clark, Clinton Collier, and Travis Hayes.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bobbie Dixon, Karla Wright Clark, Brooke Brandenburg and Riley Kate Clark.
