Betty Etheredge

Betty Joyce Etheredge, 84, of Leroy, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at Jackson Medical Center. She was born April 1, 1935 to Massey Reeves and Winnie Pearl May Reeves in Jackson. A retired secretary with Clarke Washington EMC, she was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Leroy, the Adult III Sunday School Class and the Order of the Eastern Star. She and her husband, Carl Etheredge, were Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus for eight years at Bel Air Mall in Mobile and for twelve additional years locally.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Cleo Dorman and Carl Etheredge, Sr.,

She is survived by her children, Donald (Diann) Dorman, Carl (Mike) Etheredge, Jr., Rene’ Etheredge (Cris) Bontrager, Jennifer (Terry) Smyly; grandchildren, Dwain Thomas (Robin) Dorman, Dana Dorman (Wesley) Arnold, Christopher Forman, Claire Elizabeth Forman, Catherine Anne Forman, Jessica Smyly (Kevin) Lewis, Jeremy (Angela) Smyly, Zachary Brooks Smyly, Patrick Bond Etheredge; great-grandchildren, Grayson Beck, Savannah Autry, Lane Autry, Cooper Autry, Alexis Browne, Braden Browne, Ashtynn Browne, Owen Smyly, Lena Smyly, Olivia Forman, Riley Lewis and numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 20, 2019 at the First Baptist Church of Leroy with the Revs. Ben Posey and Dave Delegal officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, December 19, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow the service at Peniel Baptist Cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.

Pallbearers will be Dwain Dorman, Wesley Arnold, Zachary Smyly, Lane Autry, Cooper Autry and Steve Sheffield.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Adult III Sunday School class, Gene Etheredge, Murray Etheredge and Tillman Bozeman.
