Betty Turnbow

Betty Eileen Turnbow, 82, of Grove Hill, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital. She was born May 22, 1937 in Illinois to Henry Walter Shain and Arvilla Wickiser Shain. She has been employed as an operator in several factories. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crochet, watching westerns and wrestling on TV and spending time with her devoted family and dogs, Boots and Jack-Jack.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, James Floyd Turnbow, Birdie Leslie Turnbow; children, Walter Allen Turnbow, Floyd Eugene Turnbow, Pete Turnbow, Betty Joyce Turnbow Rich and siblings, Earl Shain, Russell Shain, Ray Shain, John Shain, Shirley Turnbow and Barbara Moon.

She is survived by her children, Terry (Regenia) Turnbow, Eileen (George) Fuller, Boyd (Karen) Turnbow; siblings, Ronald (Lavon) Shain, Jim (Dorothy) Shain, Charles (Betty) Shain, Kay Kearney, Kenny (Donna) Cole; thirty grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; one great, great-grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at Asbury Baptist Church in Grove Hill with the Revs. Russell Wright and Brent Fuller officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.

Pallbearers will be Ethan Dungan, Sam Dungan, Scottie Fuller, Brian Gates, Willie Smith and Harvey Stutzman.

Honorary pallbearers will be T.R. Turnbow, Austin Gilchrist, Greg Turnbow and Gibson Vick.
