Betty Walker

Betty Carol "Betsy" Boone Walker, 80, of Jackson died January 26, 2024. Betsy was born May 2, 1943 to Wyatt Lamar and Willie Inez Boone. Betsy was a true "Southern Lady" who never left the house without making sure her hair, makeup, nails and wardrobe were presentable. She loved flowers and enjoyed working in her flower beds in the sunshine as well as spending time by the pool basking; she loved the water. Betsy also enjoyed playing Bridge with several friends in the community for many years. She worked as a nurse in the Jackson area for 40+ years including working her final 10 years as school nurse for Jackson Intermediate School. She will be loved and missed by many.

Betsy is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Douglas Walker; children, Steve Walker, Wendy Walker Allen, and David Walker; brother, Lamar Boone; grandchildren, Emily Hutto (Jarred), James 'Doc' Allen, Dylan Allen (Gailyn) and Sydney Keller (Ben); great grandchildren, Briggs, Leah Grace, Embrey & River; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Dottie Outlaw and Francis Davidson; and grandson Tyler Vanderheiden.

Services will be held Sunday, January 28, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Jackson. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until the service begins at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Philip McDuffie and Bro. Brian Jemison officiating. Interment will follow in Trinity Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Dylan Allen, Jarred Hutto, Todd Williams, Dee Outlaw, Dale Outlaw, Barry Outlaw, Darryl Outlaw and Doc Allen.
