Billy Byron Finch, 89, of Jackson, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at his residence. He was born on November 4, 1931 to Charles Pettie Finch and Estelle Horton Finch. A self-employed farmer and logger, he was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and had served in the U.S. Army National Guard for more than 37 years and on the Clarke County Soil and Water Board for more than 50 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working at the family sawmill and riding his ATV. He was a “people person” who easily made friends and loved Big Mike’s Steak House.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joycelyn Brannan Finch; sons, Mikeal Finch, Randall “Scotty” Finch; grandchildren, Charley Finch (Mark) Sheffield, Jessica Finch (Jeffrey) Sloat, Randall Kate Finch (Bryant, III) Bolen, Mikeal Byron “Mikie” (Kayla) Finch, Makenzie Laine Finch; great-grandchildren, Anna Kayte Finch, Randal “Finch” Sheffield, Tucker Wayne Sloat, Katie Maree Sheffield, Addilyn Claire Finch, Bryant Bernard Bolen, IV, Waylon Edward Sloat; brother, Charles (Nancy) Finch and numerous other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2020 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church on Winn Road with Dr. Johnny Kendrick and Rev. Johnny Gillis officiating. There will be no public visitation.
Pallbearers will be Steve Brannan, Kenny Coates, Kenny Finch, Drew “Stick” Outlaw, George Skipper, IV and Ray Wynn.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Bailey, Joe Bedwell, Jerry Brannan, Gene Guy, Billy Harrison, Brett Pearson and Don Ricketts.
Flowers are welcome, but in lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Pilots for Christ, P.O. Box 707, Monroeville, AL 36461.
