Bobbie Baxter Morrow, 92, passed away at Washington County nursing home on October 27, 2024. She was born to parents Carlie Baxter and Ila Beech Baxter on September 7, 1932.
Bobbie grew up in Washington County where she was a member of Fairhope Baptist Church. She graduated from Washington County High School, class of 1953. After graduation she attended Livingston State Teachers College (University of West Alabama) where she graduated and met her future husband, James "Sport" Morrow whom she would later marry in the chapel of Fairhope Baptist Church. Bobbie also graduated from the University of South Alabama Graduate Studies Program receiving her Master's degree and professional certifications from USA. Mrs. Morrow was employed for 36 years with the Mobile County Public School System serving in the classroom and administration; retiring as an Elementary School Assistant Principal.
While living in Mobile, Mrs. Morrow was a longtime member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church serving as a greeter for many of those years. She was a member of the Mobile Professional Business Women's Club, a charter member of the Spanish Fort Chapter of The Order of the Eastern Star and the Mobile Chapter of West Alabama Alumni Association, and a member of the Mobile County Retired Educator's Association; she was happy to transfer her membership to the Washington County Retired Educator's Association after moving to Chatom in 2017. She was always active in civic, professional and church activities. After moving back to Chatom, it gave Bobbie much comfort and pleasure to move her membership back to her home church, Fairhope Baptist Church. Her church has always held a special place in her heart.
Bobbie is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 58 years, James Daniel Morrow, and 13 siblings.
She is survived by her son Jefferson Daniel Morrow; granddaughter Tally Carter (Kyle); two great grandchildren, James Robert Carter and Triston Kyle Carter; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and loving friends.
Pallbearers will be Victor DuBose, Marvin "Bud" Taylor, Cory Tate, Carl Clark, Phillip Bush, and Richard Davis. Honorary Pallbearers are Henry Ross, Gary Dearmon, Franklin Baxter, Phil Hoffman, Burnell Godwin, and Kenneith Godwin.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday October 31, 2024, with a visitation one hour prior to services at Fairhope Baptist Church in Tibbie with Bro. Larry Darden officiating. Interment will follow in Fairhope Baptist Cemetery.
