Brett Seay of Chatom, 57, gained his angel wings on Sunday, July 5, 2020, after a brief and courageous battle with liver cancer. He was the son of the late Samuel C. and Frances Harkey Seay of Chatom.
Brett was a 1981 graduate of Washington County High School and attended Livingston University. Throughout his life, he worked various jobs in many different areas, endearing himself to countless friends along the way.
Gifted with natural curiosity and high intelligence, he was a kind and gentle soul who lived a humble life and was generous to a fault. A friend once said, “If Brett had a dollar, everybody had a dollar.”
He will be remembered for his kindness, his quick wit and his loyalty to his friends.
Survivors included brothers, Samuel Barron Seay (Sheryl) of Home, LA, Shawn Seay (Leigh Ann) of Chatom; a sister, Sara Seay Friedrich (Larry) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; a special “sister” and friend, Tricia Marshall of Chatom; many nieces and nephews, including Destiny Seay Harrison (Aaron) and William Kennard who were so good to him during his illness. He is also survived by his pup, Christmas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a niece, Jessica Seay Cox and his faithful companions, Brandy and Asia.
A private family service will be conducted at later date at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham where his cremains will be interred into the Seay family mausoleum.
Memorials may be made in Brett’s honor to your local animal shelter, the Humane Society or the ASPCA.
The family would like to thank Renee’ Beech at B&F Drugs for going above and beyond in Brett’s time of need and Legacy Hospice and Lee Tindall, R.N. for the outstanding care Brett and his family received.
