Burma Dean Barnett Jones, 84, of Jackson, passed away March 4, 2019 at Jackson Medical Center. She was born May 7, 1934 to Tilman Woodrow Barnett and Marguerite Watkins Barnett Grantham. She had been employed as a sewing line supervisor at Vanity Fair and was a member of Stave Creek Baptist Church. A life member of the NRA, she enjoyed working in her yard, especially with her flowers which earned her Yard of the Month honors from the Jackson Garden Club several years ago.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Derrell T. Jones; children, Derrell Don Jones, Jean J. Etheridge and sister, Joyce B. Few.
She is survived by her son-in-law, Charlie Etheridge; sisters, Dorothy B. Chastain, Jan B. Alday; grandchildren, Christopher (Wikema) Etheridge, Jason (Laura) Etheridge, Mindy (Kyle) Childs and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2019 at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson with the Rev. Spencer Turnipseed officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Jackson with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Kyle Childs, Alan Alday, Scotty Alday, Tony Alday, Vince Few and Austin Roberts.
Honorary pallbearers will be William Etheridge, Dalton Etheridge, Dylan Etheridge, Gene Whitehead, John Alday, Howard Few and Bruce Arnott.
