Carl Brown

Carl Dewitt Brown, 86, of Jackson, passed away July 7, 2017 at Jackson Medical Center. He was born September 8, 1930 to Frank and Mattie Brown. A member of Oyster Bay Baptist Church in Gulf Shores, he adopted the First United Methodist Church when he moved to Jackson. A mechanic by trade, he loved fixing things and enjoyed woodworking and yard work. He had been employed by Clarke County Motors, Anderson Motor Company and retired from Gulf Chrysler in Foley.



He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bettye Hudson Brown and brothers, Cecil Brown and George Brown.



He is survived by his sons, Mike (Kathy) Brown of Jackson, Lee (Jenny) Brown of Enterprise and grandchildren, Wendy Brown, Mendy Brown, William Brown and Hayley Brown.



Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Jackson First United Methodist Church with Dr. Alan Gantzhorn officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Jackson with Lathan Funeral Home directing.



Active pallbearers will be Houston Avery, William Brown, Donald Dorman, Al Graddy, Ricky Gray and Alan Tolbert.



Honorary pallbearers will be Shelton and Joanne Craig, Johnny Hudson, Morris Hudson, Jimmy Monk, Mark and Beth Criswell, Gaines Carter, Neal and Mary Bradley, Wanda Blount, Maxine Anderson McKleory, David Anderson, Andy Anderson and The Christian Fellowship Sunday School Class.
