Carlyon Sue Parnell Carpenter, 75, of Chatom, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at her residence. She was born in Leakesville, MS on Monday, October 14, 1946. She had been employed as safety inspector at Brown & Root and was a member of Millry Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, painting pictures, floral design at the Chatom Florist and also raised flowers of her own. She loved to travel and had been to Alaska, Canada, Europe, the Bahamas, Mexico and the Mediterranean.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey "Stud" Parnell, Ellena Dearmon Parnell; daughter, Bonnie Faye Coxwell Moss and sister, Bonnie Johnston.
She is survived by her daughters, Michelle (Jimmy) Shelton, Janice (Terry) Grimes, Nikki Andreani; grandchildren, Heath Coxwell, Clayton (McKenzie) Moss, John Curtis Moss, Jacob Grimes, Shelby Grimes, Maegan (Chase) Dixon, Nathan Andreani; great-grandchild, Darby Collins Dixon; siblings, Darrell "Pete" Parnell, Donald "Tiny" (Agnes) Parnell and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at Millry Baptist Church with the Revs. Randy Billingsley and David Clarke officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, July 1, 2022, and again, one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Antioch Baptist Cemetery in Leakesville with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Andreani, Chase Dixon, Jacob Grimes, Clayton Moss, Dewey Parnell and John Parnell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Pat Carpenter, Sonny Carpenter, Wade Carpenter, Janice Cassidy, Heath Coxwell, Becky Johnson, John Curtis Moss, Michael Parnell, Jackie Wade and Wanda Williams.
