Carol Oaks Morton, 74, of Jackson, passed away April 9, 2021. She was born to Lt. Col. Marvin A. and Mildred Collins Oaks, in Kansas City, Missouri on July 10, 1946. Her father was in the US Air Force and they lived in many places in the United States and abroad. While stationed in Germany and attending college there, Carol met her husband and they settled in Jackson. She started her career with the Clarke County School system. Mrs. Morton loved teaching children, was extraordinarily patient and passionate about helping them achieve their goals, and enjoyed exposing them to the world outside of the classroom. Carol was creative and gifted in crafting, calligraphy, and smocking. She enjoyed genealogy and was proud of her recent induction into the Daughters of the American Revolution. She loved her family very much and took great pride in providing a loving home for them.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Benjamin Morton, Jr., her parents, and sister, Arlene Francis Dutra.
She is survived by her brother Marvin A. Oaks, Jr., her children, Mike (Danielle) Morton, Laurie (Shane) Sullivan, grandchildren, Anna Katherine Sullivan, Benjamin Hampton Morton, Margaret Ellen Sullivan and Laurel Caroline Morton.
Pallbearers are Greg Jones, Walt Rotch, Chris Carr, Shannon Crim, Ron Scogin, and Phil Perkins.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at First United Methodist Church of Jackson with Rev. Ralph Wooten officiating and Lathan Funeral Home directing. A visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Pine Crest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Methodist Children's Home, 4001 Carmichael Road #235 Montgomery AL 36106, in memory of Carol Morton.
