Carolyn Brown

Mrs. Carolyn Smith Brown, 85, of Fruitdale, AL, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 16, 1937, to Leonard and Hattie Smith. She retired from Fruitdale High School after serving many years as the manager of the cafeteria. Carolyn was a devoted wife, mother and "MawMaw" to her grandchildren.

Mrs. Brown is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Brown; parents, Leonard and Hattie Smith; sons, Aaron R. Brown and Kenneth W. Brown; one brother and seven sisters.

She is survived by her sons, Paul D. Brown (Denise), Phillip Brown (Kathy) and David Brown (Phyllis); daughter, Lisa Baxter (Clay), sister, Ann Dodd (Arthur); 19 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren with another on the way.

Pallbearers will be Chad Brown, Jonathan Brown, Josh Box, Andrew Box, Kendall Brown, Curt Brown, Brandon Brown, Chase Brown, Trey Brown, and Stephen Brown.

Services will be held Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Lathan Funeral Home, Chatom. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the service begins at 11:00 am with Bro. Phillip Howard officiating. Interment will follow at Grace Williams Cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
