Carrie Helen Robinson Cleiland, age 90, of Jackson, passed away Sunday, Sept. 1, 2019 at Jackson Medical Center. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Preceded in death by her parents, Ossie and Nonie Robinson; husband, James Maybanks Cleiland, Jr.; daughters Elizabeth C. Walker and Connie C. Outlaw; brother, Fuqua Robinson; and sisters, Mabel Robinson, Josephine Courington and Faye Courington.
She was an avid bridge player, playing every Thursday up until her death. Her family knew her to be an excellent cook citing her deer steak and gravy to be the meal that you did not want to miss. As an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Jackson she led her family with a firm foundation in Christ.
Survivors include her daughter, Theresa C. Crim (Walter); son-in-laws Eric L. Walker and Andrew M. Outlaw; grandchildren Jamie Coate Jones (Jeff), Margaret Coate, Helen Elizabeth Walker, Eric Maybanks Walker (Trista), Sally Elizabeth Outlaw, and Samuel Cleilend Outlaw; six great grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Thrash and Charlene Courington, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services for Helen Cleiland are Tuesday, September 3, at Pine Crest Cemetery in Jackson, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to Pilots for Christ, P.O. Box 707, Monroeville, AL 36461 and First United Methodist Church Capital Fund.
