Cecil D. Jordan, 82, of Mt. Vernon, passed away Saturday, August 7, 2021 at his residence. He was born in Thomasville on February 1, 1939 to George Dewey Jordan and Mary Jane "Mollie" Wilkerson Jordan. An avid fan of The University of Alabama football program, he had owned and operated a number of convenience stores and other business interests in the area for many years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and enjoyed hunting fishing and was a passionate gardener.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tiffany Jo Jordan and siblings, Laura Jean (I.J.) Baugh and Kenny Jordan.
He is survived by his children, Troy Dale (Shonda) Jordan, Kimberly Ann (James) Taylor; grandchildren, Cody Jordan, Gabe (Blake) Perry, Jerrica (Stevie Powers) Perry, Destiny Jordan (Calvin) Monteiro, Madelyn (Taylor Roberts) Taylor, Jordan (Emalee Thomas) Taylor; great-grandchildren, Rhett Perry, Riley Perry and numerous other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson with the Rev. Dean Hopkins officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.
Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Davis, Chris Schwartzauer and Brent Taylor.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Witch Creek Baptist Church.
