Charlene Dixon

Charlene Dixon, 72, of Jackson, passed away on February 4, 2025, at Mobile Infirmary. She was born on July 20, 1952, to parents Francis Virginia Fain and Robert Aaron Bozeman. Charlene graduated from Leroy High school Class of 1970, afterwards she attended Livingston University, became an Army wife and spent some time in Germany, where she sang with a traveling musical group. Upon returning to the States she continued her education at Central Texas College, and University of Alabama in Huntsville with a bachelor's of arts degree in music education, Later in 2006 she graduated from University of South Alabama with a Masters of education. She loved music and performing, she had leading solo parts in many different performances including Dolly in Hello Dolly, Miss Pinkerton in The Old Maid and the Thief, as was a soloist in Regina Coeli by Mozart. She loved children and taught choir at Ed White Middle School and Chapman Middle School, returning to Jackson she taught 8th grade English in 1995 and children's choir at GES and JIS until her retirement in 2016. She loved her church and spending time with her family, she was always so loving and welcoming.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband David Nathaniel Green.

Survived by her husband Gene Dixon, son Marcus (Deborah) Green of Athens, AL, daughter Cara (Daniel) Gibson of Grove Hill, AL, stepson Gene (Victoria) Dixon of Dallas, TX, stepdaughters Halisha (Brad) Byrd of Leakesville, MS and Christie (Jeff) Haygood of Sulphur Springs, TX. Her sisters Elaine (Norman) Green and Joyce (Larry) Allday of Jackson, AL, brother Robert Aaron 'Bob' (Angie) Bozeman of St. Stephens, AL. 12 grandchildren and 4 great granddaughters. Also, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends.

Pallbearers will be Jeramy Allday, Jason Allday, Danny Green, Aaron Bozeman, EJ Waldron, Justin Collins, Daniel Aiken. Honorary pallbearers are First United Methodist Church choir.

Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made in Charlene's memory to First United Methodist Church choir or Jackson High School music program.

Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Jackson First United Methodist Church with a visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. Dr. Rev. Ralph Wooton and Rev. Jim DuFriend officiating with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
