Charles Dubose

Charles Fred DuBose, 72, of Jackson, passed away January 27, 2023. Born on July 10, 1950, to parents Fred and Mary Harris DuBose. Charles spent his life in the Jackson area, he worked for Clarke County Board of Education as a custodian for 39-1/2 years at Gilmore Elementary School. He loved his community and was an honorary member of both the Jackson Police Department and Jackson Fire Department. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson.

Preceded in death by his parents, and cousin Bennie Harris.

Survived by his cousins Melton (Patricia) DuBose, Ann Morrison, Victor DuBose, and his aunt Betty Coleman, and other extended family and many loving friends.

Pallbearers will be Michael Howell, Michael Bedwell, Jason Thomas, Richard Harvey, Barry Chancey, and Vic DuBose. Honorary pallbearers are Lem DuBose, Mel DuBose, Bill Mathews, Willie Motes, the staff at Gilmore Elementary School, Jackson Police Department, Jackson Fire Department, his Sunday School class at FBC, and Charles' friends at the Jackson Nutrition Center. Special recognition to Charles' faithful caregivers Christie and Maury Outlaw, and his continual encourager, Nancy Atchison.

Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 30, 2023, at First Baptist Church of Jackson with a visitation one hour prior to services. Dr. Scott Thomas and Dr. Brian Jemison officiating and Lathan Funeral Home directing. Online condolences may be shared at www.lathanfuneralhome.com
