Charles Marvin "Catfish" Middleton

May 24, 1947 — March 10, 2025

Charles Marvin "Catfish" Middleton, age 77, passed away peacefully March 10, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. Marvin was born May 24th, 1947, to E.B. "Moon" and Ernestine Middleton in Jackson, Alabama. After graduating from Leroy High School in 1967, he went to work for Allied Paper (later becoming Boise Cascade) where he dedicated 42 years before retiring. He spent his time there working on both the J1 and the J3 machines, making countless friends and memories along the way. Outside of work "Catfish" enjoyed a variety of activities. His love for sports started early in life. He became an avid Alabama Football fan at a young age. You would often find that signature A atop his head as he boasted about his favorite team. He rarely missed a Saturday cheering on the Crimson Tide. Along the way, golf became another exciting hobby for him, first playing then watching. His greatest passion though was hunting. He loved to spend his days in the woods chasing that elusive monster buck or calling in the big gobblers. Marvin had many things he loved, but to him nothing was more important than his family. His daughters, his grandkids, his great grandson, his siblings, his nieces and nephews and, of course, his furry sidekick "Teddy Bear Bryant". With a smile on his face, he spoke proudly of each. The legend known as "Catfish" was the most kindhearted, loyal and giving person. There was never a time he placed himself above the needs of his children and family. He was self-sacrificing until the very end. His departure has left a void in the lives of all who knew him.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, Elbert Bertram Middleton and Julia Ernestine (Neugent) Middleton; Brother, Floyd Chapman Middleton; and his best friend, his Pekingese, Teddy Bruski. He is survived by his three daughters, Dena Middleton Somerhalder (Bob), Christy Middleton Roskam (Mark) and Megan Middleton Maherg (Gary); Grandchildren, Matthew Baugh, Margaret Koenig (fiancé Josh Moak), Morgan Baugh, Peyton Koenig, Chase Baugh, Nicholas Roskam, William Maherg, Hayden Roskam and Ethan Maherg; Great grandchild, Benjamin "Benji" Murphree; Siblings, Elbert Middleton and Carole Middleton. He also leaves behind countless nieces, nephews, other loved ones and friends.

Family and friends are invited to gather Thursday, March 13th, 2025, from 6 to 8 pm. At Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson, with the Memorial service being held the following day, Friday, March 14th, 2025, at 11 am with visitation beginning an hour prior to the service.
