Charles William "Billy" Syphrit, Sr., 79, of Jackson, went to his heavenly home on July 29, 2018 at his residence surrounded by family and friends. He was born April 24, 1939 to Charles Dewey and Vivian Syphrit. An active member of Peniel Baptist Church and Santa Fe Lodge #223, he had been employed as a millwright for 38 years at Boise and worked at Lathan Funeral Home for several years as well.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Calvin Syphrit and granddaughter, Lindsey Syphrit.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Syphrit of Jackson; children, Charles W. (Renee') Syphrit, Jr. of Thomasville, Becky (Robbie) Finn of Theodore; step-daughter, Dedra Brinson of New York, NY; sisters, Annette Duke of Satsuma, Katherine (Lavoyde) Bradford of Dickinson; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson with the Revs. Benny Harrison and William Allison officiating. Visitation will begin two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Trinity Memorial Gardens with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Trenton Allison, Mike Syphrit, Daniel McLean, Jim Fulmer, Jimmy Dowling and Robbie Finn.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of Santa Fe Lodge #223, Wayne Lathan, Vicki Smith, Marion Mason, Tanya Martin and Ashley Dismukes.
