Charlotte Childs, 75, of Jackson, passed away on September 29, 2024, at her home. She was born on May 16, 1949, to parents Mayben and Myrtle Smith Harrison in Mobile County. Charlotte, her husband and children moved to Jackson in 1983, while her husband ran his tire business, Charlotte worked at the ARC of Clarke County, she had a true passion for caring for people, later retiring after 28 years. She was a member of Stave Creek Baptist Church and loved her church family very much. She enjoyed antiquing and collecting unique things, gardening, and growing flowers in her greenhouse, but most of all spending time with all of her family.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband Randal Oliver Childs.
Survived by her sons; Scott (Billie Carol) Childs, Jason Childs, Kyle (Mindy) Childs, grandchildren; Jessie (Shawn) Claxton, Cody (Candace) Childs, Morgan Childs, Maggie Childs, Megan (Tyler) Howell, Callie Childs, Kolten Childs, great-grandchildren; Cooper Childs, Addie Claxton, Anna Claxton, Weston Claxton, Caisley Childs, Cami Childs, Carlee Childs, Brody Howell, Nathan Howell, Barrett Howell. Siblings; Shelia (Trey) Tomberlin, Cindy Johnston, Brian (Paula) Harrison, also many cousins, nieces, nephews, and loving friends.
Pallbearers will be Scott Smith, Trey Tomberlin, Cody Childs, Bob Powell, Tyler Howell, and Shawn Claxton. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jimmy Marshall, Jimmy Davis, Charlie Etheridge, Mike Smith, Paul Thomas, and Charlotte's Sunday School Class at Stave Creek.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Stave Creek Baptist Church with a visitation one hour prior to services. Bro. Mike Ballard officiating and Lathan Funeral Home directing. Burial will be at Bethel Cemetery on Chastain Hill following services. Online condolences may be shared at www.lathanfuneralhome.com
