Charnic Lane Strong, 89, of Jackson, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2021. He was born in Sandflat on January 1, 1932 to Sebra Lemuel Strong and Annie Mae Friddle Strong. He grew up at Lock One on the Tombigbee River and graduated in the 1950 class at Jackson High School. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force, participating in Operation Castle Atomic testing in Eniwetok, the proving ground in the Marshall Islands. He was a radio operator while in the service.
He met and married Peggy Bradford while attending Auburn University where he graduated in 1958. He went to work at Geigy Chemical where he remained until retirement. He was an expert turkey hunter and trot-line fisherman. He was a strong man who loved his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, S.L. Strong, Winston Strong, Janet Strong and Agnes Strong.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Peggy Bradford Strong; children, John Bragg Strong, Jody Strong Page; grandchildren, Elizabeth Page, Lanie Page, Morgan Strong, Richard Page, Bragg Strong; siblings, Ralph Strong, Ann Strong; nieces and nephews, Margaret Wadleigh, Sandra Ladd, Pam Privett, Lemuel Strong, Earl Strong, Nick Strong, Charles Moore, Billy Hammond, Don Wadleigh and numerous friends.
