David D. Dolbear, 92, of Jackson, passed away on June 7, 2024, at the Washington County Nursing Home. He was born May 26, 1932, to parents Matthew Turner and Sarah Jane McDonald Dolbear.
He was one of 15 children, his home was full of music, love, and laughter. After graduating high school David joined the United States Air Force, he traveled the world, living in Guam, France, Arizona, and Illinois, just to name a few. With the love of his life, they adopted three children, Amanda, Marianne, Jeffery, and After 20 years of excellent and diligent service to his country he retired and moved back to his hometown of Jackson with his family. He went to work for the city of Jackson, retiring from the water department after 20 plus years. After retirement he spent many years traveling with his beloved wife Rosann. He loved Alabama football and spending time with his family.
Preceded in death by his parents, his wife Roseann Halloran Dolbear, daughter Marianne Hurst, siblings, Velma, Viola, Vivian, Bertha, Lottie Mae, Lillian, Marie, Anita, Lucille, Clyde, and Chester.
Survived by his daughter Amanda (Kendall) Sullivan, grandchildren; Miranda (Rivers) Hancock, Melanie Rivers, Morgan (Hurst) Bradley, Jacob Sullivan, Juliann Sullivan, David Perry Dolbear, great-grandchildren; Brandon James, Lilly Bradley, Bryce Sullivan, Zachary Hancock, Benjamin Hancock. Siblings; Gaynor Sanders, Laura Lee Smith, Gene Dolbear, also many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and loving friends.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 14, 2024, at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson with a visitation one hour prior to services. Bro. Chris Giles officiating, interment will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery in Jackson. Online condolences may be shared at www.lathanfuneralhome.com
