David Jack Robinson

David Jack Robinson, 77 of Whatley, passed away January 7, 2025. Jack was born September 13, 1947 to Willie Percy and Era Louise "Buzz" Robinson. He was a member of Tompkins Baptist Church where he served as Deacon for many years. He also proudly served in the United States Navy where he received a Vietnam Service Medal with One Bronze Star. Jack loved the outdoors: in his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing; in more recent years he preferred camping. Taking camping trips in their motor home, Jack and his beloved wife traveled many miles and made many memories. Jack was a lot of fun to be around and loved to carry on and have a good time. He never met a stranger. Without realizing it and just by being himself, Jack was an inspiration of how to be a man of faith, family, and frivolity. Above all, he was a loving husband, dad, granddad, and great granddad who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Jack is predeceased by his parents; brother, James Robinson; sister, Martha Robinson; and granddaughter, Kalli Rebecca Robinson.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Shirley Robinson; sons, David Robinson, Jr. (Donna) and Josh Robinson (Lauren); grandchildren, Kelsey Raye Barley (Sean) and John David Robinson; great grandchildren, Kalli Raye Barley and Grayson Luke Barley; siblings, Mary Cartwright, Billy W. Robinson (Betty), Ed Robinson (Vickie), Carol Baugh (Bimbo), Diane Dunagan; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

Services will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Tompkins Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral begins at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Johnny Kendrick and Bro. Claude Agee officiating. Interment will follow at Dacy Cemetery under the direction of Lathan Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be John David Robinson, Kris Hicks, Thomas Armistead, Keith Newton, Thomas Anderson, and Claude Agee.

Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews, Linda Slayton's Sunday School Class and Mr. Ward Edge.
