David Ray Odom, Sr., 72, of Fruitdale, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2020 at his residence surrounded by family. He was born in Mississippi on December 3, 1947 to J.D. Odom and Katie Lois Hartley Odom. A veteran of the U.S. Navy and the Army National Guard, he was a member of South Oak Grove Baptist Church in Fruitdale. He was also a founding member of the Fruitdale Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing, squirrel hunting and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Coaker Odom; children, David Ray (Nicole Watts) Odom, Jr., Phyllis Odom (Phillip) Morgan, Bridgette Odom (Richard)Brown; grandchildren, Ethan (Brittney) Williams, Logan Williams, Landon Williams, Kane Williams, Tyler (Amanda) Brown, Koy Brown, Kali Odom, Richard Odom, Shelby Morgan, Lexi Watts; great-granddaughter, Braylee Dean Williams; siblings, Glenn Odom, Billy Joe (Janet) Odom, Collie Odom, Jeff (Carol) Odom, Rusty Odom, Wilson Odom, Katie Odom; special friends, Inez Holcombe, Lori Leigh Freeman and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at South Oak Grove Baptist Church in Fruitdale with the Revs. Johnny Coaker, James Coaker, and Buddy Jones. officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 5:30-8 p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2020 and again one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service on Saturday at Grace Williams Cemetery in Fruitdale.
Pallbearers will be Koy Brown, Tyler Brown, Ethan Williams, Kane Williams, Landon Williams and Logan Williams.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Fruitdale Volunteer Fire Department.
