Dennis G. Courington, 67, of Coffeeville, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Choctaw Health and Rehab in Butler. He was born in Bessemer on Thursday, July 29, 1954. He was stricken with GBS (Gullian Barre Syndrome) at the age of 16. It was with great determination and by the grace of God that he overcame the disease. Although it left him with numerous disabilities, he worked as a long-time medical records employee at Mobile Infirmary. After retirement, he moved to Coffeeville where his favorite pastimes were reading and working in the Good Book, which was his way of referring to the Bible. He was a member of The First Baptist Church of Coffeeville and a huge fan of The University of Alabama football team.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce E. Courington, Della Mae Salter Courington; siblings, Edna Hollis Payne, Brenda Gail Courington, Bruce E. (Faye) Courington, Allen (Virginia) Courington, Freddie Courington and Gene Courington.
He is survived by his brothers, Don Courington, Jerry (Joan S.) Courington, Ross (Joan N.) Courington, Milton Courington; sister-in-law, Charlene Courington and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 p.m. on Thursday, July 21, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in Coffeeville with the Rev. Brent Fuller officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Union Grove Baptist Cemetery in Coffeeville with Lathan Funeral Home directing.Pallbearers will be Dean Bedwell, Byron Beverly, Charles Brooks, Ray Counselman, Dalton Courington and Mark Courington.
