Dixie Lee Thompson, 80, of Jackson, passed away April 8, 2019 at Springhill Memorial Hospital in Mobile. She was born April 26, 1938 in Washington. A member of Tompkins Baptist Church in Grove Hill, she was a retired sales associate in the retail clothing industry. Her numerous hobbies included making jewelry, cooking, crochet and sewing, especially dog vests, baby blankets and baby pillows.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Tonnemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Tom Thompson; children, Ron Thompson, Diana (Jim) Ramsey; grandchildren, Trista Nicole (Glenn Figueroa) Thompson, Amanda Jo (Garrett) Gregory, Corie Elizabeth (Bill) Lawrence, Amber Ramsey, Stephanie (J.C.) Baker, Jay Ramsey, David Ramsey; great-grandchildren, Millie Gregory, Gunner Figueroa; brother, Fred Tonnemaker and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Tompkins Baptist Church in Grove Hill with Dr. Johnny Kendrick officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Rodger Barnes, Wayne Pettis, Elma Averett, Ward Edge, Quincy Baros and John Moseley.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Tompkins Baptist Church "Open" Sunday School class.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Tompkins Baptist Church Building Fund, 14130 Hwy. 43, Grove Hill, AL 36451.
