Don R. Pledger, 71, of Jackson, passed away April 26, 2018 at his residence surrounded by family and friends. He was born December 29, 1946 to Raymond and Margie Pledger in Jackson. A member of Stave Creek Baptist Church, he served the citizens of Jackson for 10 years with the police department and then worked 35 years with Huntsman Chemical. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Scott Hayes.
He is survived by his wife, Marcie "Katie" Pledger; children, Brien (Kim) Hayes, Kaye (Keith) Tarver; grandchildren, Carly Keith, Tyler Keith, Rodney Hayes, Cristin Wiggins, Thad Henderson and great-grandchildren, Colton Henderson, Emma Henderson, Kyleigh Hayes, Jayden Hayes, Emma Kate Hayes and Draklyn Wiggins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Stave Creek Baptist Church in Jackson with Rev. David Goldman and Dr. Andy Goode officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Skipworth, Jeff Green, Joe Milstead, Craig Anderson, Ethan Lankford and James Harrell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Taylor, Alexander Radcliff, Mac Henley, Charles Burge, Dale Coulter, Kenny Smith, Marlon Cranford and Grover Loper.
