Donald Ray Gibson, 63, of Jackson, passed away Friday, April 24, 2020. He was born March 23, 1957 to Windle R. “Bob” Gibson and Frankie M. McGilberry Gibson in Mobile. An avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed sharing those activities with his sons and was also a fan of The University of Alabama football program. His children attended Jackson Academy and during that time, he was actively involved with the maintenance of the school and the athletics program. A member of the Salitpa Fire Department, his greatest passion was his position as the sound technician at Stave Creek Baptist Church where he was a member for many years.
He was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his mother, Frankie Gibson; sons, Thomas Ray (Lauren) Gibson, Stephen Windle (Kendall) Gibson; sister, Sissie (Rick) Grant; grandchildren, Jackson Gibson, Tommy Gibson; niece, Heather (Will) Richardson and children, Wood, Caroline and Anne Catherine; nephew, Ross (Brittany) Henderson and child, Harper and numerous other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2020 at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Jackson with the Rev. Darren Williams officiating and Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Ross Henderson, Stephen Gibson, Thomas Gibson, Rick Grant, John Kinman and Will Richardson.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations in his memory be made to the music ministry of Stave Creek Baptist Church in Jackson.
