Donnie Jackson

April 23, 1945 — October 10, 2022

Donnie Dymple Miller Jackson, 77, of Coffeeville, passed away at her residence surrounded by family on Monday, October 10, 2022. She was born in Washington County on Monday, April 23, 1945, to Raybon Odell Miller and Velma Edith Kirkland Miller. She served as the store manager at GOCO (formerly Shortstop) in Coffeeville where she made many lifelong friendships. She had also faithfully served her church, Grace Chapel, as the pianist and secretary/treasurer since the church was founded in 1970. She was also a devoted fan of Southern Gospel music, especially her favorite group, The Kingsmen, and more specifically, their tenor, Chris Jenkins. One of the highlights of her last year was the day he called her while she was in the hospital to sing Happy Birthday to her and pray for her recovery.
She enjoyed many happy hours crocheting blankets for her family and special friends. She never approved of idleness of any kind, and so she devoted her life to the care and welfare of her family whom she adored. A wonderful cook, her cornbread and macaroni were favorites of her grandchildren, but she had numerous special dishes that she prepared for her family and church events on a regular basis.
She was preceded in death by her parents and beloved sister, Dollie Miller Jackson. The sisters married brothers, Donald and Charles Jackson and lived directly across the street from each other and chose to raise their families as a close-knit unit, and they remained close and enjoyed many of the same activities.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Donald Jackson; sons, Ronnie (Leigh) Jackson, Kevin (Tamara) Jackson; grandchildren, Matthew (Hannah) Jackson, Caleb (Kenzie) Jackson, Zachari (Katie) Jackson, Haleigh Tyson, Elizabeth (Chris Travis) Jackson, Elixis Jackson, Myiah Jackson; great-grandchildren, Isaiah J. Jackson, Ella Rose Jackson, Penelope Dymple Travis, Rylan Seth Jackson, Hardin Slade Jackson, Addelyn Louise Jackson; brother, Odell (Glendine) Miller; brother-in-law, Charles Jackson; devoted nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 14, 2022, at Grace Chapel Church, 1764 Hodge Road, in Coffeeville with the Revs. Renea Henderson and Anthony Miller officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Chad Henderson, Caleb Jackson, Matthew Jackson, Zachari Jackson, Chris Travis and J.P. Walker.
Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy and Patsy Cotten, Butch Harris, Curt Kirkland, Mooch Kirkland, Matthew Milstead and the members of Grace Chapel Church.
