Dorothy Alba Baggette Bailey of Leroy, AL a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away August 3, 2019 at the age of 81. Alba loved God, The First Presbyterian Church, her family and many friends. She loved to read, crochet, quilt, paint and play cards. She graduated from Jackson High School and attended the University of Alabama before working at Geigy Chemical company. She ran a daycare and antique shop, all while raising a family.
She was born on August 26, 1937 to the late Ruth Robinson Baggette and Russell Baggette. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, James W. Bailey, Sr.; her children, daughter, Ruth Robinson “Robbie” Bailey Harrison, and sons, James W. Bailey, Jr. (Kim), Christopher Alan Bailey (Suzanne) and Richard Dunn Bailey (Kristi); grandchildren Jacob Harrison (Mollie), Madison Bailey, Caroline Bailey, Griffin Hansen (Joy), Sarah Hansen, Harris Bailey and Julia Bailey; great grandchildren, Ethan, Baylee and Wyatt Harrison; sisters, Gayle Wynn and Sally Ann “Pat” Ramey, and brothers, Jerry Baggette (Pat) and Phil Baggette (Vicki).
She is preceded in death by her brothers, Bob Baggette (Ethel), Digby Baggette (Mickey) and Johnny Baggette (Dana).
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at The First Presbyterian Church of Jackson with visitation immediately after in the education building behind the Church.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers a donation be made in Alba's name to the First Presbyterian Church of Jackson.
