Dorothy W. Reynolds, 100, of Chatom, AL, peacefully passed away on September 26, 2024. She had a goal to reach the age of 100, which she did on her past birthday on August 5, 2024. She was born to Rosa Harriet Turner and Louis Earl Turner in Innis, Louisianna. Dorothy was a member of the Chatom United Methodist Church; she loved singing in the choir. She was a great baker and shared with the community her famous banana bread, pound cakes, and monkey bread. Dorothy was a Registered Nurse for over 43 years, she was the first nurse hired at the Washington County Hospital, and later the director of nursing there, she also volunteered for the Red Cross. She enjoyed fishing, was a devoted Alabama football fan, and most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, and friends in the Washington county community.
Dorothy was proceeded in death by her Brothers Henry and Louis Turner and sisters Rosie and Eva Turner Walters.
Survived by her children; Harriet (Dr. William) Thomas, James (Lana) Whigham, Ellen (Paul) Mobley, grandchildren; Angela Boatwright, Kevin (Stacey) Thomas, Paul Thomas, Corey (Roxie) Whigham, Caleb Whigham, Lauren (Seth) Deaton, Paul Mobley Jr., Rebekah (Chris) Hinsch, John (Madison) Mobley. Great-grandchildren; Allison (Jessie) Jones, Tanner (Megan) Boatwright, Tucker Boatwright, Lauren Wilkins, Payton Thomas, Emma Thomas, Aidan Thomas, Autumn Thomas, Landon Thomas, Kayla Whigham, Kirsten Potter, Nate Fedor, Noland Whigham, Cambree Whigham, Madison Deaton, Levi Deaton, Benjamin Deaton, Christopher Hinsch, Monroe Hinsch, Samuel Mobley, and Lena Mobley. Great- Great Grandchildren; Cooper Potter, London Jones, Kallyn Jones, and Tate Boatwright.
Pallbearers will be John Mobley, Paul Mobley, Kevin Thomas, Paul Thomas, Corey Whigham, Caleb Whigham.
Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at Lathan Funeral Home in Chatom with a visitation one hour prior to the services, burial to follow at Providence Cemetery in Millry. Online condolences may be shared at www.lathanfuneralhome.com
