Dorothy Sims Watson, 89, of Thomasville, passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022, at her residence. She was born in the Bashi community on Monday, September 5, 1932. A member of Tompkins Baptist Church in Grove Hill, she had retired as the Secretary of Forestry with Scotch Lumber Company. She was also a member of Eastern Star and enjoyed sewing and baking and decorating cakes.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmus Newton an Elizabeth Dews Newton; husbands, Kenneth Sims and Warren Watson and grandson, Keith Capps.
She is survived by her daughter, Kay (Kenneth) Capps; stepchildren, Donna (Tom) Reid, Lee (Diana) Watson, Kenneth (Simone) Watson, Angela (Ira) Turberville; grandchildren, Kenneth S. (Stephanie) Capps, Max Watson, Nick Watson, Zeke Turberville; great-grandchildren, Jace Capps, Ashley Capps, Jonathan Capps, Margaret Capps; brother, Rex (Cindy) Huckabee and numerous other friends and relatives.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at Independence Cemetery in Sunny South with Dr. Johnny Kendrick officiating and Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Cody Autery, Ralph Autery, Gene Finley, Terry Lynn Maness, Shane Sims and James Swanner, Jr.
