Douglas McArthur Lathan, 77, of Laton Hill, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at the Washington County Nursing Home. He was born March 24, 1942 to Harold Clifton Lathan and Flora Mae Rigney Lathan. An electrician, he was a member of Springbank Church. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and socializing with his family and friends, especially at Jake’s Family Restaurant in Chatom.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kitty Lathan; son, Jeremy Phelan; granddaughter, Katrina Moore and siblings, Gerald Lathan and Calvin Lathan.
He is survived by his children, Shelia (Robert) Holland, Douglas Lamar Lathan, Christopher Calvin (Teresa) Lathan, Connie Danell (Richard) Johnston, Glenn Harvison; grandchildren, Tanner Holland, Tayten Holland, Candice Rester, Eric Moore, Kyle Lathan, Paige Lathan, Lexi Lathan, Gage Lathan, Tina Lathan, James Lathan, Sean Phelan, Daniel Phelan, Kade Phelan, Evan Phelan, Mallory Kelley, Aaron Harvison, Samantha Harvison, KayCee Harvison, Grant Harvison, Grace Harvison, numerous great-grandchildren; siblings, Harold Lathan, James (Patricia) Lathan, Carolyn Goolsby, Judy Payne, Maureen (Wallace) Henson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 27, 2019 at Springbank Baptist Church in Chatom with the Rev. Ricky Revette officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Lathan Funeral directing.
Pallbearers will be Eric Moore, Kyle Lathan, James Lathan, Sean Phelan and Daniel Phelan.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rayford Parnell, Raymond Parnell, J.W. Brown, J.B. Reed and Wayne Harvison.
