Douglas Walker

February 21, 1940 — October 5, 2024

Douglas M. Walker, 84, of Jackson, passed away on October 5, 2024. He was born on February 21, 1940, to David McLean and Dorothy (Deas) Walker. He attended First Baptist Church of Jackson with his wife Betsy Walker.

Douglas was a true outdoorsman. He worked as a foreman in the timber industry and in his spare time he loved to hunt and spend time at his camp. He was an avid Alabama football fan. But what he treasured the most is being a passionate supporter of his grandchildren's endeavors and rarely, if ever, missing a sporting event of theirs.

Preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 60 years, Betsy Walker; his sister, Kathleen 'Kat' Garrick; and grandson, Tyler James Vanderheiden.

He is survived by his sons, Steve Walker and David Walker; his daughter, Wendy Walker Allen (Todd Williams); his grandchildren, Emily (Jarred) Hutto, James Doc Allen, Dylan (Gailyn) Allen, and Sydney (Ben) Keller; his great-grandchildren, Briggs and Leah Grace, Embrey and River; brothers, Dwight Walker and Stan Walker; sister, Virginia Deas; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

Graveside service will be held at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Jackson on October 9, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. with Bro. Brian Jemison officiating.

Pallbearers will be Doc Allen, Dylan Allen, Todd Williams, Jarred Hutto, Spence Walker, Eric Walker, D'Wayne Garrick, and Jim Deas.
