Duma Chafin, 94, of Chatom, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2019 at Washington County Nursing Home. She was born June 13, 1924 to Logan and Florence Richerson in Rabon, Baldwin County, AL. She was a member of Reynolds Holiness Church in Chatom, she enjoyed ceramics, crocheting, cooking, quilting and shopping.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marion R. Chafin; children, Glenn Rayford (Sandra) Chafin, Marilyn (Roy) Dees, Bobbie Jean (Randy) Dawkins, Roland Chafin; son-in-law, Roy Cook and great-grandchildren, Austin Dees and Autumn Dees.
She is survived by her children, Jacqueline (Willie Paul) Palmer, Clarice Chafin Cook; sisters, Virginia Roberson, Melvina Mott, Etta (James) Gilley; 12 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 7 great, great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at Reynolds Holiness Church with the Rev. Troy Bailey and grandson, Darren Chafin officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Dees, Mitchell Palmer, Darren Chafin, Samuel Turner, Will Chafin and Jared Carter.
Honorary pallbearers will be Shane Dees, Michael Palmer, Ryan Chafin, Nicholas Carter, Alex Veasey, Robert Gilley, Steve Gilley and Keith Cook.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Reynolds Holiness Church Cemetery Fund.
