Elsie Jones

Elsie O. Jones, 89, of Gainestown, passed away July 14, 2017 at the Jackson Health Care Facility. She was born February 13, 1928 to Jeff and Vera Overstreet. She had been employed as a doctor's assistant with Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat and was a member of Jones Chapel Methodist Protestant Church.



She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence Howard Jones and siblings, T.J. Overstreet and Iveline Overstreet.



She is survived by her children, Jerry R. (Janice) Jones, Billy H. Jones, Harold (Georgia) Jones, Diane (Phil) Murphy, Marie (Perry) Anderson; siblings, Maynard (Louise) Overstreet, Ella Mae (Arnold) Jones, Helen (John) Sandborn, Inez Wagner; 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 5 great, great-grandchildren.



Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, July 17, 2017 at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson with the Revs. Benny Crawford and Reggie Smith officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Perry's Chapel Cemetery in Gainestown with Lathan Funeral Home directing.



Active pallbearers will be Billy Reed Jones, Jason Jones, Jonathan Jones, Jerome Jones, Tommy Murphy, Scott Murphy, Perry Anderson II, Chris Anderson, Michael Jones and Jeff Jones.



Honorary pallbearers will be John Sandborn, Arnold Jones, Bonnie Ray Overstreet and Paul Karr.
