Elton Wade Williams, 66, of Fruitdale, passed away May 23, 2020 at his residence. He was born August 12, 1953 to Thomas G. Williams and Claire Williams. A 1971 graduate of Fruitdale High School where he was an honor student, he loved his Fruitdale Pirates football and baseball team. He earned a degree in forestry from Mississippi State University in 1976 and would build his own business, Wade Williams Logging and helped build a family business, Tri-W-Timber.
Wade was a member of South Oak Grove Baptist Church, The AL Forestry Association, AL Loggers Council and Log-A-Load for Kids Charity. He enjoyed spending time with his pets, Baby and Ellie Mae. Gardening and collecting antiques were among his favorite hobbies. Spending time with his family and making cherished memories was what he loved the most.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Loretta Williams and father, Thomas G. Williams.
He is survived by his daughter, Kristin Williams; mother, Claire Williams, both of Fruitdale; sisters, Cindy Turner, Joan Moore, Gina (Ronnie) Williams and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at Grace Williams Cemetery in Fruitdale with Bro. Buddy Jones officiating, vocalist, Christine Davidson and Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be George Holliman, Eric Moore, Dusty Turner, Del Ray Turner, Kasey Broussard, Nick Rhoads, Yarby Rhoads, Jason Rhodes, Marcus Rhodes and Jonathan Evans.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sammy Joe Loper, Max Williams, Ronnie Williams, Woodrow “Bubba” Dickinson and Johnny Glen Busby, Yogi Milstead, Rodney Evans, Vern Martin, Jim Williams, Stover Williams.
