Emmogene Mason McVay, 76, of Grove Hill, passed away Monday, May 20, 2019 at her residence surrounded by family. She was born July 18, 1942 to George Garrett Mason and Mary Belle Franks Mason in Grove Hill. A member of Tompkins Baptist Church in Grove Hill, she was a retired seamstress. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother (Nanny), sister, aunt and friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Leon McVay, Sr. and brothers, Titus Lucious Mason, John Justus Mason and George Atwood Mason.
She is survived by her sons, Arthur Craig (Cindy) McVay, Randall David (Tiffany) McVay, Robert Leon McVay, Jr., Carl Erwin (Tori) McVay; grandchildren, Joseph Lee McVay, Caleb Wade McVay, Brandon Chase McVay, David Nicholas McVay, Charles Weslee McVay, Chad Landon McVay, Carlie Deanne McVay; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Mason (B.R.) Dunn, Linda Sue Mason Frith; sisters-in-law, Patricia Mason, Judy Grimes Mason (Holland) Reeves; special friends, Bruce and Yvonne Mathers; numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 24, 2019 at Tompkins Baptist Church with Drs. Johnny Kendrick and Paul McLendon officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Tompkins Baptist Church from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service on Friday at Ulcanush Baptist Church in Coffeeville with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Joseph McVay, Caleb McVay, Brandon McVay, Nicholas McVay, Weslee McVay and Landon McVay, and honorary pallbearers will be members of the Tompkins Baptist Church “Open” Sunday School class.
Appreciation for the care given is extended to Homestead Hospice members, Dr. Ikram Hussain, Angela Giles, Shaneice Blanks, Tammy Pugh, Brooke Mosley, Meagan Coody Bonner, Shirley Crowe, Christina Philon and Jesse Griffith.
