Johnnie Evon Sullivan, 88, of Millry, passed away on September 10, 2024. He was born on July 13, 1936, to parents Chester and Augusta "Gus" Guy Sullivan. Evon worked in the logging industry, and he loved to help and work with people. He spent many years caring for families while working for Lathan Funeral Home. And when he was able to, he loved to fish. Evon was a longtime member of Reynold's Holiness Church. For the past 50 years, he was famous for his delicious meals, especially the burgers that he would serve during Camp Meetings.
Preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Kalle Denise Sullivan; great-grandson, Isaiah Matthew Sullivan; brothers, Arnold Decell Sullivan and Chester Sullivan, Jr; and sister Marilyn Sullivan Taylor.
Evon is survived by his wife of 68 years, Drula Sullivan; his sons, Johnny Carl Sullivan, James Leon (Brenda) Sullivan, Gary Eugene (Sandra) Sullivan; his daughter, Denise (Millard) Sanderson; 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Carolyn Stokely and Cheryl Lankford.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Reynold's Holiness Church in Chatom. Visitation will be on Friday, September 13, 2024, from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm., also one hour prior to services on Saturday. Bro. Troy Bailey, Bro. Nicholas Sullivan, Cheryl Lankford, and Bro. Steve Watts officiating the service with Lathan Funeral Home directing. Interment will follow immediately after the service in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Nicholas Sullivan, Matt Sullivan, Jeramy Sullivan, Patrick Sanderson, Dustin Sullivan and Millard Sanderson.
