Fletcher I.G. Cox, 86, of Coffeeville, passed away, Thursday, April 4, 2024. He was born in Coffeeville on Sunday, January 9, 1938, to Kossuth Murray Cox and Reddia Mae Brown Cox. He had been employed as a work coordinator with McMillan Bloedel/Weyerhauser prior to his retirement and had served in the U.S. National Guard. He was an active member of Grace Chapel Church in Coffeeville and had served in numerous positions within the church including deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was a lifelong guitarist and loved to play and sing and frequently played at numerous area events. He was most well known for his rendition of Hank Williams "I Saw The Light." He was also a gifted woodworker and a member of the Masonic Lodge #122 in Coffeeville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley Ann Cox and siblings, Leon Cox, Woodie Cox, James Cox, Roger Cox, Margie Mae Williamson, Ruby Jean Bryant and Margaret Kitchens.
He is survived by his sons, Tony (Rena) Cox, Greg (Tanya) Cox; grandchildren, Charity Cox, Anthony (Jasmine) Cox, Kelsey Cox, Kaley Criswell; great-grandchildren, Brylie Cooper, Landen Andrews, Camden Cox, Natalie Cox, Jaiden Cox, Olivia Criswell; brother, John (Leonia) Cox and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at Grace Chapel Church (1764 Hodge Road, Coffeeville) with the Revs. Butch Starks and Larry Cox officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Mosley Springs Church on Hodge Road, Coffeeville with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Cox, Frankie Cox, Jac Cox, Jon David Cox, Terrell Hodge, T.R. Hodge and Jeremy Mauldin,.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kieth Autry, Danny Brown, Clifton Bryant, Earl Bryant, Russell Dixon, Joe Henderson, Johnny Holston, Charles Jackson, Donald Jackson, Gary Mauldin, James McIlwain, Wayne Rachel, Ray Counselman and Roy Webb.
