Fred Allen Motes, 85, of Coffeeville, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at Washington County Nursing Home. He was born in Salitpa on Wednesday, July 29, 1936. He was a member of River Hill Baptist Church and a self-employed painter. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Motes, Ruby Hutchinson Motes; wife, Margie Woodard Motes; daughter, Gail Sullivan and siblings, James Samuel Motes, Jr., Alton Motes, Frank Motes and Eva Mae Hoven.
He is survived by his son, Keith (Candace) Motes; grandchildren, Hannah (Adam) Jackson, Adam (Kristy) Motes, Andy Motes, Dallas Motes; great-grandchildren, Hunter Jackson, A.J. Jackson, Autumn Motes, Oakleigh Motes; brother. Thomas (Glenda) Motes and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 25, 2022, at River Hill Baptist Cemetery in Jackson with the Rev. Renea Henderson officiating and Lathan Funeral Home directing.
