Freddie Nell Woods Pezent, 88, of Jackson, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2022, at Mobile Infirmary with her daughter, Becky, by her side. She was born in Atmore on Friday, May 25, 1934, to George W. Woods and Ollie Mae Payne Woods. In 1950, she married Gaines Ray Pezent of Jackson, a union that would last 71 years. A member of Rockville Baptist Church, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, sewing, quilting and bird watching. She especially enjoyed decorating for the holidays and hosting her family.She loved to set a pretty table!
Freddie valued and loved her family and friends dearly. She was a kind, helpful and generous person to all who knew her. To know her was to love her. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gaines Ray Pezent; parents, George Woods and Ollie Payne Woods; siblings, William A. Woods, Ruby Lee Lambert, Estelle Parker, Anne Dunne, Otis Woods, Thelma Sierra, Mary Willis, Louise Jernigan, Gladys Petrantis, Edward Woods, Hazel Mason, Harold Allen and sons-in-law, Johnny Bradford and Louie E. "Buck" Pepper.
She is survived by her children; daughters, Judie (Charles) Martin, Betty (Bobby) Hentschel, Rebecca Bradford; sons, Ray Pezent, Danny Pezent; stepson, Tony (Patty) Andress; grandchildren, Jill (Rick) Goolsby, Caroline (Jay) Jackson, John (Sarah) Hentschel, Carli (Clay) Johnston, Rae (Eric) Adams; step-grandchildren, Robby Hentschel, Candy Hentschel, Chad Bradford, Kim (Jamie) Harrell; great-grandchildren, Robin (Allison) Swift, Joshua Brown, Barrett Brown, Lander Johnston, Emalise Johnston, Eliza Johnston, Pepper Adams, Freddy Adams; step great-grandchildren, Sara Overstreet, Brennan Overstreet, Isabel Harrell, Bradford Harrell and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 20, 2022, at Rockville Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Dunn officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be John Hentschel, Eric Adams, Barrett Brown, Joshua Brown, Clay Johnston and Robin Swift.
Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy Biggs, Michael Burns, Gary Cooper, Jack Dunne, Tim Dunne, Bobbie Joe Gray, Jr., Gilbert Harden, Ed Lambert, Sherrel Lambert, Bobby Mason, Bobby Payne, Gil Willis, Glen Willis, Tim Willis, Larry Woods, Eddie Pezent, Erby Pezent, Marcus Pezent, Mirko Pezent, Ryan Pezent, Warner Pezent, Roy Marks Don Wilson and Paul Wilson.
