George Edward Carpenter, 88, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at William F. Green Veterans Home in Bay Minette. He was born in Yellow Pine on August 24, 1932 to Romas Carpenter and Pearlie M. Davis Carpenter. He had served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and more than 30 years in the U.S. Army National Guard after that. He was a minister of God's word more than sixty years and was a member of Victory Grove Church in Wagarville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Sullivan Carpenter and daughter, Brenda Carpenter Emmons.
He is survived by his son, Steven (Terri) Carpenter; grandchildren, Taylor (Brooke) Carpenter, Carly Carpenter, Crystal Emmons McNeill, Adam Emmons, Michael (Charlie) Emmons and numerous other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Clearwater Assembly of God Cemetery in Wagarville with the Rev. Glen Sullivan officiating and Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Taylor Carpenter, Adam Emmons, Kenny Emmons, Michael Emmons, Joey Sullivan and Ryan Sullivan.
Honorary pallbearers will be Donnie Atchison, Keith Atchison and Robert Steele.
