Gerald Overstreet, Sr., 71, of Gainestown, passed away Friday, February 28, 2020 at Jackson Medical Center surrounded by family. He was born July 4, 1948 to Condy Overstreet and Willie Jeanette Jones Overstreet. A lifelong member of Perry’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Gainestown, he was also a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening and was a retired pipefitter in the construction industry.
He was preceded in death by his parents and the following siblings, C.W. Overstreet, Elwood Overstreet, Sr., Armond Overstreet, Ralph Overstreet, Woodie Overstreet, James Overstreet, Mildred Young and Voncille Echols.
He is survived by his children, Tammy (Clifton) Gwin, Teresa (Christopher) Hughes, Gerald (Jennifer) Overstreet, Jr.; grandchildren, Nick (Jessie) Criswell, Billy (Jessica) Overstreet, Lucas (Jackie) Weeks, Allie Gwin, Zack (Megan) Hughes, Jared Overstreet, Beth Ann Overstreet; great-grandchildren, Colton Criswell, Katie Criswell, James Overstreet, Ella Overstreet, Skylar Weeks, Shan Overstreet, Carter Weeks, Tillie Overstreet; siblings, Willine McDonald, Ronnie (Deanna) Overstreet; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at Perry’s Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Benny Crawford officiating and Rebecca Wright playing piano. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Nick Criswell, Billy Overstreet, Jared Overstreet, Luke Weeks, Zack Hughes and Keith Overstreet.
Honorary pallbearers will be Elwood Overstreet, Jr., Ron Overstreet and Brennan Overstreet.
